Worshiping Well

"Worship the LORD in the splendour of his holiness" Psalm 96:9a

ANZAC Day Prayer

on April 10, 2012

Lord, today we come as a grateful nation to remember those who have fallen on the fields of battle. We thank you for the peace and freedom our nation enjoys as a result of their sacrifice. Help all of us to honour those who have made so great a sacrifice, yet save us from ever glorifying the evil of war. Enable us to be peacemakers.

Also today, Lord, we take time to think of those men and women currently serving our nation on the field of battle. We pray for protection for their lives. May your peace come quickly to the lands where they serve.

Our concerns also extend to the families who wait at home for the day when their loved ones will return. For the wives, husbands, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers who wait patiently for their homecoming we ask that you provide them with comfort and peace today. May your peace come quickly to their hearts and minds.

Finally, Lord, may this city of                                     , its surrounding districts and the people who live within its borders always live in a manner which reflects the highest ideal that was won on the fields of battle so many years ago. May we never take for granted the freedom that we enjoy; rather may we strive to ensure that all people enjoy its privilege. May your peace reside eternally in our nation.

We pray this through the name of the Jesus Christ who provides all of humanity the opportunity to live in your peace and freedom. Amen

Megan, it’s a beautifully worded prayer, and the photo you have used with it is stunning. Wendy

God Bless you Megan, your prayer has provided inspiration for the Intercessions that I shall deliver at the Anzac Day Memorial Service at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cathedral in Port Moresby on Wednesday 25th April 2012. Peter Turner BEM.
